Manor Studio, was a Southall photographic studio from about 1906 until 1972. It was located at no. 4 Manor Parade, and was renamed and numbered as 57 The Green, A Mr. Merriman was the first proprietor and he sold it on to a Mr. Charlesworth after World War 1. When Mr. Charlesworth retired in 1930, the premises and business were acquired by Leonard and Olive Taylor who previously had a small photographic business at 17a King Street, located over the Maypole Dairy shop.
In World War 2 a simple printer for card negative system was devised to make maximum, use of resource rations. An enlarger was constructed by Leonard Taylor to enable the post card sized prints to be produced. See below:
One of the largest commissions arising from WW2 war work was for the American Red Cross. See below.
Above 1) Coffee making machine 2) Southern Caravans hand over converted Green Line Bus and caravan to the American Red Cross in 1943 (North Hyde Road Hayes). The buses were converted to be used as 'Clubmobiles' which served coffee and doughnuts to US forces stationed in the UK.
