A SUNDAY in 1985

All the photographs on this page have been made available to southallinpictures.com by kind permission of the photographer, Nigel Tupman.  A selection of black and white photographs taken in South Road and The Broadway.  They show a very different Southall to the earlier pre war and wartime photographs shown elsewhere on this site.  Nigel has captured the atmosphere and the vibrancy of this multicultural town at a specific moment in time.

Southall Town Hall.  Looking towards Lady Margaret Road and High Street to right.

One thing that has not changed since 1985 is the volume of traffic!

There was a time when there were two Woolworth stores in Southall.  Now there are none. One was in King Street and the other, shown here in the Broadway. Oh..and this shot was taken some nine years before the Sunday trading laws were changed!
